Happy Movember!

No, that isn't a typo; MOvember is in full swing! Very likely there's at least one man in your life growing a moustache over the next month to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer research...including this guy!

That's Curve's own Jay Richardson sporting last year's 'stached look and he's doing it up again!

If you'd like to join team 'Curve 94.3's Handlebars' to grow your moustache, raise money, recruit other people and do anything else to support Jay & this great cause, all can be done HERE.

Monday Link. Or, Jim Playfair needs to switch to decaf

We all get upset from time to time. It's how we deal with that stress that defines us. Some people exercise. Some people write in a journal. Some people snap, grab one of their players sticks, smash it over the bench while screaming obsenities at the ref, then rip off their suit and tie Hulk Hogan style then grab one more stick and smash it again for good measure.

Jim! Use your words Jim!

The bad thing about the internet, is that no matter how awesome the thing you're doing that you're about to post online, no one is going to believe you. Thanks to digital trickery, everyone thinks that your video is fake.

Like this one. Totally fake. Andrea and I agree on this. Eff Eh Kay EE

worth1000.com is a website that runs photoshop contests. Some of the stuff on there is amazing. You could spend your whole work day on there if you wanted, and if you're boss wasn't constantly looking over your shoulder. So, here's the coles notes version of worth1000.....some of the best work on there in a brief video.

Apparently, skydiving isn't enough for some people. Those people are crazy. What's wrong with hurtling yourself into the abyss and freefalling until a thin sheet of fabric saves your life (maybe). Sounds dangerous enough to me. Not these people. They needed an extra element of "OmmyGodI'mgonnadie!!!!!!!" added to the equation. So, here's a video of skydiving with a kayak.

That looks dangerous and all, but there aren't enough sharp objects for my liking. Anyway we can do the same thing only with scissors?

I'm kidding. Don't do that.

Thursday's link of the day!!

I like super slow motion! Cameras that shoot at a very high speed, so that when you play it back at normal speed, the playback is a super high resolution slow motion effect. It makes even the most mundane things look awesome! For example, dogs catching dog treats!

If you've ever done a contest at a sporting event, you know the pressure. The thousands of fans, the cameras in your face. So, it sucks way worse if something embarassing happens to you at that exact moment.

With that in mind, I present a video called "Man tries to dunk a basketball after jumping on a trampoline, but instead smashes his face on the rim in front of thousands of people at a Portland Trail Blazers game"

Ow.

Ok Go is a band that does not do their music videos halfway. A couple years ago, they did one with an elaborate treadmill dance routine which got a zillion hits on youtube. They released a new video yesterday, and it's nothing short of impressive. This looks like it was done all in one shot. Who knows how many takes it took to get it done.

Thursday's link of the day!!

Thanks to Dave from proAggressive for sharing this link...

As a certain pair of teachers discovered this week, once something hits the internet, it is officially uncontrollable. If it goes online, it now belongs to the entire planet. Scary, and with everyone having a camera, video camera and internet connection on their blackberry, it can happen anywhere, at anytime.

You'd figure that would make people, especially famous people very cautious. Not always the case. I present to you......

www.drunkathlete.com

AS the name of the website implies, it's pictures that people have taken of famous sports figures, out for a night on the town, hammered!!! Check it out.

You remember earlier this month how people in Toronto were taking pictures of transit workers who were sleeping on the job? Was a bit of a media firestorm that erupted because of it. Well, the people in Toronto missed the point again. The transit workers should nap. As often as possible in fact. Why? Check this video of a bus crash in Taiwan. It was caused by the bus driver falling asleep at the wheel!

I dunno about you, but I want my bus driver getting as much sleep as possible after seeing that!!!

Man, I wish I would have thought of this.

flash mob (plural flash mobs)

1. A group of people who converge on a spot with little forewarning, perform some action (usually a protest), and disperse quickly.

This happens in England. I wish I was there.

Let's be honest here. Speedskating, and ski jumping, and figure skating are alright, I guess. But the event that everyone is REALLY looking forward to is Hockey. Canada kicks off their quest for gold tonight against Norway.

Poor Norway.

I've been looking forward to this since the disaster that was 2006. This is Canada's year! To get you in the mood, here's the very best from the gold medal game of 2002...

Every now and again, you're faced with an impossible choice. Which is more awesome? A bunch of crazy Russians jumping off a 5 story building into a snow pile? Or a kid trying to do the hammer throw, but forgetting to let go and smashing his face into the ground?

Oh man! I can't decide!!! Russians? Hammer throw?!?! Ahhhhh!!!! I can't decide which is going to be the Link of the Day!!!!

So, yeah. Here's both.

Tuesday Linkeeee!!!

Hey. Hopefully you saw the Google Superbowl ad. Though, why Google feels the need to advertise is beyond me. Anyway. The commercial was a pretty cool one, telling a love story through a series of searches on Google. If you missed it, here it is.

Nicely done. Easy to parody too! Here's the same ad, based on Tiger Woods' searches.

Here's a guy that has a lot of time on his hands, and will make you feel bad about your own construction skills. Check out this guy's homemade roller coaster that he put together in his back yard!

I'm keeping my kids away from this link, lest they ask me why I've never built them a rollercoaster.
