...by quitting that fancy coffee habit!
Whenever I hear one of these financial "geniuses" on TV talking about how the average person can save money, the first thing they always say is to cut out the little things we mindlessly buy every day . . . like coffee from places like Starbucks.
--That got us thinking: How much could you really save if you stopped blowing money on coffee every day? Check it out . . .
--A Grande latte costs $3.74. If you buy one every workday . . . or 20 days a month . . . you'll spend $74.80 a month, or $897.60 a year.
--Now, let's say that instead of spending that money, you deposit your extra $75 a month into a 401(k). What happens then? Well, assuming the average rate of return is 10%, you'd have:
--$5,931.18 after FIVE years
--$15,566.40 after TEN years
--$57,502.27 after 20 years
--$171,024.40 after 30 years
--$478,333.52 after 40 years
Could you give up the fancy beverages for an extra few bucks in years to come?
Or are you like me and could find something else to spend it on?
