Not the Playboy bunnies this time around, but actually RABBITS!
Turns out way back in 1984, Hugh very generously donated a bunch of money to support fieldwork involving a new type of rabbit. It didn’t have a name yet, so they went ahead and called "Sylvilagus palustris hefneri":
Just 6 years after the discovery, though, the Hefneri rabbits were placed on the endangered species list. Fast forward to now when it's thought there are only about 300 of them left in the world!
Bringing about grand comparisons of the bunnies the man they're named after...
He’s about 108 right? Their type’s going on 26 years and I don’t like the idea of any species dying out, especially ones as cute as this, but I can’t help but imagine the actual playboy bunnies when I heard about these and that’s just not really my thing so if they must be gone...so be it.
