In a week where we saw 4 Canadian soliders killed in action in Afganistan...FOX NEWS has decided to mock our police and milliary as slackers...a five minute segment on the network features American panelists suggesting Canadian soldiers need time off for "manicures and pedicures."
here's the link - www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcJn5XlbSFk
It aired after Gen. Andrew Leslie, the Canadian Forces Chief of Land Staff, told a Senate committee the military would need a one-year break from operations after the mission in Afghanistan winds down in 2011.
Not suprisingly ALOT of people are furious and looking for a way to vent so I encourage you to call and e-mail our friends at FOX with your thoughts

Also you can get in touch with your cable provider and cancel your subscription to Fox and it's affiliated networks as well as advertizers (especially Canadian based companies)telling them you won't buy their products as long as they continue to advertise on FOX
Hi we came over to live in Canada due to work we never considred moving to the USA ,
ReplyDeleteWe have th same trouble with the US back in the UK when they have had so called freindly fire cases (MORE THAN ONCE) and they say sorry and everything is ok. We respect the way you are so proud of your forces that one thing the UK is lacking i say lets pull out all our troops and leave them to it and see how they get on
Wow...first post ;) Im going to start by salving those who feel that their pride has been hurt by stating just a few historical facts. War of 1812 Canadian soldiers (truthfully under English rule but Canadian none the less) invade the US and burn down the whitehouse...That lovely national anthem of yours Mr Joe Blow American? About how you were so backed into a corner? Yea....Canada. World War I and II. German forces predict the Allies next attack by where the Canadian troops have been moved too not because they are cannon fodder..but because they are the shock troops. Fast forward to September 11. Those "Horse riding red jackets" that you can see a mile away in addition to Canadian firefighters travel to New York City and aid in the effort of keeping order and saving American lives lost in the fall of the twin towers. Hurricane Katrina. Canadian military personel are shipped to Louisiana in an effort to aid suffering Americans during the devastating destruction of New Orleans. My fellow Canadians...do we really need to feel up in arms about this? I personally couldnt help but feel a twinge of deja vu as I listened to this on my morning drive. Let the ignorant continue to make fools of themselves and hopefully one day the upstanding American people will finally take a stand on the matter. I have watched this entire video and at parts (as I usually do when I watch Fox Network clips of this nature) could not help but laugh. They always speak of invasion and of how we ride on the backs of sharing a border with the most powerful nation in the world. What do you think would happen if a single American soldier crossed the border with malicious intent? The Americans would have a world of people breathing down their necks pretty quickly not to mention the fact that theres a little something called the UN? Americans breed ignorance..Canadians breed greatness. /rant
ReplyDeleteI first heard about this from Fark.com...

I'm still in awe that these d-bags are allowed on television.
This is truly ridiculous. Thank you for talking about it this morning, and starting a discussion that needs to be had:
ReplyDeleteIs allowing Fox news to be carried by Canadian networks conceding to hate speech? We need to draw the line somewhere - and in my mind that somewhere is HERE...
I heard you guys discussing this this morning. Honestly - I can't help but feel bad for this host, you know, he clearly has no one watching him, so if he just talks louder, people will hear him. It's so much better to go to air uninformed about something and then have people mad at you than to do your homework.
ReplyDeleteIn case you can't tell, that is total sarcasm. This guy is a loser. I've done my part by emailing and am encouraging others to do the same.
