600 SURGICAL PATIENTS BURST INTO FLAMES ON THE OPERATING TABLE EVERY YEAR!
Ever heard the term "surgical fire"? If not, it's when a surgical tool creates a spark that ignites flammable items in the operating room . . . alcohol-based antiseptics or paper, for examples. . . in the middle of an operation.
Well, according to the Emergency Care Research Institute, every year about 600 hospital patients suddenly BURST INTO FLAMES on the operating table as a result of those fires!
Two things on this: Shouldn't they have figured out how to avoid having this happen by now?
And since the Emergency Care Research Institute is based out of the States, can we assume we're safe up here?
